Further three-year contract for Salt River Project (SRP), the third largest public power utility in the US, follows a four-year contract awarded in 2003

Paris, December 21, 2006 - Nexans, the worldwide leader in the cable industry, has been awarded a three-year frame agreement contract worth approximately 65 million Euro to supply medium-voltage power cables to Salt River Project (SRP), the third largest public power utility in the US. The cables will be used to distribute electricity to homes in the SRP service territory which includes over 900,000 customers in the greater metropolitan Phoenix area, Scottsdale, Tempe and outlying rural areas of central Arizona. This frame agreement contract is a three-year extension to an existing 50 million Euro, four-year, contract signed in 2003, and has an option to renew for a fourth year.

Over the three-year contract, Nexans will supply SRP with around 3,700 km of 15kV cable in various specifications, including aluminium and copper conductors, suitable for installation in the underground power infrastructure serving homes and commercial buildings. The cables will be manufactured at the Nexans Weyburn plant in Canada.

“We are very pleased that SRP has selected Nexans again for the expansion of its electrical network. The continued success of our partnership with SRP, which has been in place for more than a decade, underlines our ability to supply high-quality products dedicated to major projects. This new contract also illustrates the strong demand in energy cables for infrastructure networks in this part of the world” said Frédéric Vincent, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice-President for the North America Area within Nexans.
